Position Overview

The Charlotte Hornets are looking for a motivated and hardworking student wanting to pursue a career in human resources and open to learning the structure and responsibilities of an HR department within the sports and entertainment industry. To be eligible for this internship you will be required to receive academic credit. This internship is unpaid.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities

  • Assisting with various programs including:
  • Internship program
  • On-boarding & termination processes
  • Training programs
  • Workers compensations
  • Benefits
  • Organizing employment materials
  • Spreadsheet maintenance
  • Communicating initiatives within the organization and specific departments
  • Assist in executing various compliance requirements

    Required Skills/ Experience/ Abilities

    The qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. To be successful in this position, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

    Education and/or Experience

  • Pursuit of Human Resources degree preferred; Psychology, Sociology, Business, or a related degree is required.
  • You should be, but not limited to, a Junior, Senior or graduate level student.
  • You will need to be in the office 20-40 hours a week and need to attend most home games.


  • Possess a solid ability to manage one’s own time and prioritize tasks when given clearly defined goals and objectives
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when privy to sensitive information
  • Be a flexible and reliable member of the team, both within own department and the company as a whole
  • You should be able to thrive in a rapidly changing and deadline driven environment
  • Presents self in professional manner and is capable of interacting with all levels of the organization and outside contacts.
  • Ability to multi-task and work extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays and the ability to attend company events.
