Basketball Operations Intern / Pro Sports
POSITION OVERVIEWProvide administrative support to Hornets Basketball Operations staff.
Spectrum Arena, home of the Charlotte Hornets, is seeking an energetic individual to support members of the Basketball Operations staff with daily team operations and logistics. The pursuit of a degree in sports management/sports medicine, or the desire to pursue a career in the sports industry is preferred. The position is unpaid and the student must receive academic credit. Hours vary must be available for most arena events, throughout the semester that may occur on evenings and/or weekends, including Arena Events and Hornets games. The ability to work nights & weekends (includes all non-Hornets events such as event marketing, concerts, family shows, conferences, etc.).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Coaching Staff with team workouts and practices: rebounding, running drills and working on plays with our team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs is required along with a general understanding of basketball.
Work with the Hornets Equipment Manager to maintain the inventory and working condition of all Hornets equipment including, but not limited to uniforms and practice gear.
Must be able to assist staff during home games and practices and work in a face paced environment.
Ability to lift at least 50lbs and have a valid driver's license.
Maintain a neat and organized workspace.

Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Outgoing personality with good communication skills.
Familiarity with Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to work on projects and maintain confidential information.
Must have an interest in basketball, as well as familiarity with basketball terminology and statistics.
Prior collegiate level basketball experience is not required, but is a plus.
Ability to multi-task, work extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays and the ability to attend company events.
EDUCATION AND/ OR EXPERIENCE
Must be able to receive academic credit
Pursuing a degree in sports management/sports medicine, or the desire to pursue a career in the sports industry.
Possess a strong ability to manage oneís own time and prioritize tasks when given clearly defined goals and objectives
Able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when privy to sensitive information
Strong teamwork skills
Be a flexible and reliable team player, both within own department and the company as a whole
