Sports and Fitness Intern / Sports Management

Special Olympics Vermont

Special Olympics Vermont seeks an intern for 15-20 hours per week to report to the Sports Manager. The preference is for someone who can commit to both the fall and spring semesters.

Primary responsibilities and projects will include:

-Serve as primary liaison for recreational tournament hosts
-Serve as primary liaison for the Unified Fitness Program: Communicate frequently with Special Olympics College students and athletes interested in the Unified Fitness program, coordinating schedules, match athletes with mentors, screen mentor applicants, etc., research and recommend equipment purchases
-Provide ongoing support for State level competitions including in office prep an on-site event management
-Lead Team Sports Assessment Evaluation working with volunteer coaches from across the state

Desired Skills and Attributes

-Junior or senior undergraduate student, or graduate level students welcome
-Strong written and oral communications skills. The intern will exercise these skills over the phone, in person and via email
-Organized, with attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple responsibilities at one time
-Passion for sports and fitness
-Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
