The Houston Astros Internships are intended for individuals with a strong desire to gain real-world work experience, as well as a desire to work hard and give their best. Learning potential is endless in these positions and interns get out of the experience what they put into it. While primarily intended as an educational experience, these internships are paid. Outgoing, positive attitude and personality. Must be a “team player.” Interested in more than just working in a high profile environment. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment. Willing to offer ideas and suggestions. Punctual and professional.
The Ballpark Entertainment Intern will work on learning day to day workflow of our productions team. At the end of this internship candidate selected will have a strong knowledge of the production cycle, live entertainment production, and game timing/execution. The candidate will also have knowledge of the various components of the control room setup including but not limited to Daktronics, Adobe, and Avid systems. Below is a summary of the general day to day duties for this position:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
-Inventory, organize, and maintain all productions videos, features, and game footage including all Astros home games
-Capture game footage using Premier software and or AJA KiPro technology
-Act as productions grip for production shoots both at and away from Minute Maid Park
-Capture b-roll as needed and distribute a variety of game day events, special events, press conferences, and community appearances
-Maintain our content distribution and organization system on a day to day basis
-Partner with internal and external clients to fulfill content distribution and organization (uploading content to BAM, etc.)
-Complete special projects as assigned and creative collaboration is a must
-Candidate will report to Content Producer (Lauren Blackwell)
-At the end of the internship the selected candidate will develop and script one of our Houston Astros home games (09/17/18). The candidate will work with our Content Producer (Lauren Blackwell) and Producer (Rob Runnels) to develop the following elements along with co-producing the game.
-Game Run of Show
-Field of study in Productions, Cinematography, Communications or relevant work experience
-Collegiate level experience in shooting, editing or similar role with collegiate sports team
-Knowledge of software packages including but not limited to Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator
-Knowledge of Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere and Avid Media Composer
-Must possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with other departments and production staff
-Strong attention to detail and project coordination skills
-Must by very organized, flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment within firm production deadlines
-Must be able to work nights and weekends
Physical and Mental Requirements
-While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear.
-The vision requirement includes close vision and ability to adjust focus.
-Nature of position requires physical mobility and the ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
-Must have ability to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed.
