NFL International Overview

NFL International develops the NFL's businesses around the world, with a focus on growing the League's fan base. The NFL operates in four territories (Canada, China, UK and Mexico), with central management based in the League headquarters in New York. The International team is responsible for operations outside of the United States, including media, marketing, consumer products, and sponsorship.

International Consumer Products Business

The international consumer products business has undergone strong growth, with significant additional potential. Providing fan access to compelling, relevant products is a priority from both a revenue and fan service perspective. NFL International works with our key global partners (Nike, New Era, Fanatics, Wilson, and EA) and the domestic Consumer Products team to devise fan growth initiatives, appropriate product assortments, distribution plans, logistics, and marketing programs. In recent years, the portfolio of regional licensees has grown as well, and striking the right balance in the licensee mix is critical. We are simultaneously developing our global e-commerce business.

Beyond our existing partners, we will develop additional licensed categories and new territories to create market impact and growth.

The Director, International Consumer Products, will play a central role in collaborating with the domestic and international licensing teams, driving growth in the global licensed and e-commerce businesses, and overseeing the P&L. Results will be measured against increased revenue, enhanced market presence and maximizing global partner relationships.

This position will be based in New York City.


- Develop and drive annual strategic growth plans in collaboration with VP, International Commercial Development, territories and domestic Consumer Products

- Own international component of global partner relationships. Drive international agenda with key global partners (i.e. Nike, EA, New Era, Majestic, Wilson, Fanatics)

-- Identify opportunities to leverage global partners to drive international fan growth

-- Create annual strategic, product and marketing plans in collaboration with global partners and local Licensing Managers, and manage administration of marketing funds

-- Drive global partner priorities, strategic, tactics, etc. in partnership with domestic Consumer Products; ensure strong communication regarding global partner priorities with domestic team

-- Strengthen relationships with global partners to grow NFL International Consumer Products business

-- Partner with domestic Consumer Products on all global partner renewals; Review/recommend all business terms and ensure that final deals meet the needs of each region

-- Conceive and implement processes to ensure smooth partner communication and consistent application of branding and quality control guidelines

- Collaborate with International licensing team in each territory

-- Collaborate with territory supervisor to set and track each manager's performance plan and annual goals

-- Collaborate with VP, International Commercial Development to build capabilities of licensing team

-- Collaborate with licensing managers to agree on key priorities and focus areas

-- Utilize strong leadership skills to drive team to achieve agreed upon goals

- Central connection point and team leader for regional NFL Licensing Managers

-- Act as an advocate for NFL International with the domestic Consumer Products team and other NY teams to build support for international priorities

-- Meet with domestic Consumer Product account teams regularly to discuss key partner updates, issues, etc.

-- Set and track priorities consistent with best practices and expected revenue growth

-- Ensure alignment of NFL regions and licensees to central strategies and processes, while maintaining appropriate flexibility and local perspective

-- Accelerate the business by streamlining central processes, ideas, resources, and assets

-- Review proposed local deals and initiatives, confirming congruence with overall category segmentation strategies and existing relationships

-- Share best practices and key assets with territories

- Oversee International Consumer Products P&L

-- Develop annual financial projections in collaboration with territories

-- Identify action plans and priorities to achieve agreed upon targets

-- Oversee International Consumer Products expense budget

-- Responsible for developing ongoing management reporting to track P&L

-- Collaborate with territories to Identify key risks and opportunities throughout fiscal year

-- Manage quarterly forecasts to ensure that all markets stay on track to deliver revenue and expense targets

- Drive all International eSports initiatives in partnership with domestic Consumer Products, territories and EA in order to accelerate fan growth and Madden business
- Own relationship with IMG licensing agent for non-focus markets. Manage all day to day communication, review of proposed deals, liaising with legal and finance to facilitate deals, etc.
- Collaborate with territory managers to manage execution of event retail at all NFL International Games

-Assess new market opportunities and conduct category and retail reviews

  • 8-10 years of relevant experience; at least 5 years in consumer products licensing
  • Meaningful experience in licensing business development and consumer product marketing
  • Knowledge of and relationships in the licensing industry, strong understanding of the landscape and trends
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Proven success in the development and launch of consumer product marketing and licensing programs
  • Solid understanding of product marketing, development, manufacturing, and retail processes and rhythms
  • Demonstrated project management experience and ability to lead and prioritize in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Collaborative orientation and the ability to effectively communicate International team requirements and priorities
  • Strong analytical capabilities, Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
  • High degree of cultural sensitivity; exposure to international business greatly preferred
