Student-Athlete Development Intern / College Sports

Job Description
The University of Connecticut, Division of Athletics is seeking qualified applicants for a paid internship position. This position assists the Director of Student-Athlete Development in meeting its goal of preparing and developing student-athletes through personal, professional, leadership and service initiatives. This position will require flexibility, facilitation, administrative and time management skills. This position will report to the Director of Student-Athlete Development.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in all student-athlete development initiatives, both personal and professional
  • Assist in facilitation and implementation of Leadership and Mentorship programs
  • Create and facilitate professional and personal development workshops for the student-athlete population
  • Assist in planning and implementing SBM Charitable Foundation sponsored programs, Goal Line Project and Husky Reach community outreach events
  • Collect data for all student-development activities and community service events
  • Create and maintain database of events
  • Document and summarize all student-athlete development and community service activities and events each semester
  • Prepare supplies/materials for all student-athlete event and/or workshop
  • Design and maintain Husky High Five awards, and assist with all special events
  • Additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in sports management or related field
  • One- year experience at the collegiate level with college-aged student-athletes
  • Exposure to intercollegiate athletics, whether in a working environment or as a former student-athlete
  • Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, adaptability, and the highest personal and professional integrity standards
  • Must possess outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with faculty, staff, coaches, and members of the overall university community
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and some holidays is required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Knowledge and ability to adhere to policies and procedures of the University of Connecticut, its conferences and the NCAA

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with more than two years' experience working with student-athletes in either a Student-Athlete Development program or an Academic Support program

July 1, 2018-June 30, 2019
