Media Relations Intern / Pro Sports

Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting the director of media relations with day-of-game tasks, compiling and distributing game notes to broadcast team and attending media outlets, writing game recaps and official team press releases (signings, trades, other transactions), maintaing statistical database on team website, writing occassional feature stories on players, coaches and other team personnel for use in team program, website and gameday materials, conducting postgame interviews with Bandits players for use on social media, fascilitating interactions between players and broadcast team on a game-by-game basis, acting as a liasion between players and meda outlets at games, helping control the team's social media accounts as needed.

Qualifications:

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Ideal candidate is pursuing a college degree in journalism, public relations, communications or other related field.
-Experience writing long-form feature stories and/or game recaps for a newspaper or other publication.
-Comfortable using various forms of new media and social media in a responsible and professional manner.
-Desire to work in a sports-related field.
-Ability to work nights and weekends as game schedule permits.
- Strong knowledge and/or love of baseball/softball
- Ability to work at a fast pace
- Strong sense of discretion and professional attitude
- Flexible schedule including game nights, some days and weekends, including non-game days
